What do you teach?

Backend development

What gets you excited about technology?

“It’s ever changing and making the impossible possible”

How long have you been coding? How did you get started?

Just under 3 years. I went to a coding meetup and started practising free online resources like Codecademy and freeCodeCamp

What do you enjoy about working at Manchester Codes?

You're always learning with the students. Yes we understand and teach the syllabus but there are also so many unknowns and new questions that students bring to us to keep us on our toes.

Favourite language and framework/library/ tool?

JavaScript because I've used it the most and it is very forgiving

Least favourite language and framework/library/ tool?

fp-ts because I don't understand it yet and the naming of functions are not intuitive for me

One piece of advice you have for people fresh to Software development?

If you're comfortable, you're not learning.

Outside of work, what do I like to do for fun? How do you spend your downtime?

Pre pandemic - festivals, gigs, restaurants, pubs, hiking, travelling. Post pandemic - singing, cycling, playing with cats

What did you want to be when you were younger?

An astronaut! 🚀

If you were stranded on a remote island, alone. What piece of technology/ gadget would you be unable to live without?

Do I have infinite battery life and a WiFi connection? If not, I'm taking a Swiss army knife. If so, laptop so I can video call my family and friends, watch Netflix and listen to music.

How can people follow your journey?
