Frontend Curriculum Teacher
What gets you excited about Technology?
Being able to continuously learn. There is always a new tool/library/framework just around the corner.
How long have you been coding? How did you get started?
Around 3 years. I started to learn to code to prove to my brother that it wasn't hard. Little did I know that it would become a passion and turn into a career!
What do you enjoy about working at Manchester Codes?
My favourite part of teaching is seeing the final projects. It is amazing how much students can achieve is such little time!
Favourite language and framework/library/ tool?
Least favourite language and framework/library/ tool?
C#. I'm team Java, that's all I have to say.
One piece of advice you have for people fresh to Software development?
Ask lots of questions. No question is a stupid question and no one knows everything. Also, Google is your friend!
Outside of work, what do I like to do for fun? How do you spend your downtime?
I am a keen runner. Cannot wait for races and parkrun to return! I also enjoy arts and crafts. As everyone in the pandemic, I've been watching a lot of TV (my favourite benefit of working for Sky is the full Sky package for free). I'm currently watching Anne with an E, Superstore and The Blacklist.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
A lawyer. I watched a lot of Ally McBeal as a child. I then became a lawyer and realised the show lied to me about the realities of this career.
If you were stranded on a remote island, alone. What piece of technology/ gadget would you be unable to live without?
My Garmin smartwatch. If I'm stuck on an island, those miles will be getting logged on Strava!
Instructor and Software Engineer at Sky.
